Alma, taken from the Latin word “almus”, is described as kindness, nourishing, fostering. It is also is a word obtained from the blend of Allison and Madison, Dr. Nguyen's two beautiful daughters.

Gastroenterology is a specialty that focuses on the function, structure, and diseases of the digestive system. These organs include the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, pancreas, liver and the gallbladder and biliary system.

Together, they become Alma Gastroenterology.

Esophageal testing

Used to evaluate different disorders of the esophagus including motility and reflux

EGD

Used to evaluate disorders of the esophagus, stomach, or small bowel

Esophageal dilation

Used to stretch or dilate the esophagus for diseases such as Schatzski's ring or eosinophilic esophagitis

EGD with PEG

Used to provide artificial nutrition or sometimes as a venting mechanism

Capsule endoscopy

Used to evaluate parts of the small bowel usually not seen by egd or colonoscopy

Colonoscopy

Used to screen for colon cancer or diagnose other disorders of the colon

Flexible sigmoidoscopy

Used for evaluation of the rectum or lower colon
